analysing short films - The Ellington kid
Representation - kebab shops in London are popular for roadmen. The worker are brave. Roadmen are violent and carry knives.
Micro elements
cinematography - close up of knife when being sharpened, shows the representation of knives being used frequently around London.
sound - loud non diegetic noise when the guy is stabbed and gets chased into the kebab shop to show that we are in the stabbed guys shoes and can't hear much apart from faint words from the roadmen.
Mise en scene - lots of knives to represent that they are popular in London. Kebab shop which is popular around London.
Performance - The workers being big, straight face and hench showing that they have been like that in their old country and are use to it. Body movement to show they ain't scared of them.
editing - face off > slow editing to add tense
Messages - the danger of knives being carried in public areas
narrative - flashbacks , 3 act structure - 1st act is them getting into shop, 2nd act is the cookers defending them, 3rd act is him locking door and cuts back to the 2 people.
this influences me as this could be a topic I may focus on
